12 Photos that will make you want to pack your bags and head to Italy’s Amalfi Coast now!

The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline along the southwest edge of Italy’s Campania region. To say it’s a popular destination is an understatement, with over 5 million tourists visiting each year. The 55-kilometer coastal road between the port city of Salerno and clifftop Sorrento winds past grand villas, terraced vineyards and cliffside lemon groves. The drive itself, although terrifying, is almost as breathtaking as each of the charming towns. With sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with almost 100 small beaches and 13 pastel-colored villages, the Amalfi Coast is a place that must be seen to believed. Photos of the Amalfi Coast tantalize you, but nothing can really prepare you for how beautiful this place really is.  In the meantime, here is my best attempt at capturing just a fraction of it’s beauty.

Did you know? The Amalfi Coast (or the Costiera Amalfitana) was designated a cultural World Heritage Site in 1997 because it’s quintessentially Mediterranean landscape blends centuries of artistic and architectural accomplishments with one of nature’s perfect panoramas.

  1. Flashback to my memories of this area from about 10 years ago. I loved Sorrento and that drive around the Amalfi Coast…wow, scary and exhilarating all at the sam time. We went to a beach club somewhat like the one you have pictured except in Via Reggio. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Gorgeous photos, Lynne! I love the one from Ravello, with the bakery sign – these cobbled streets and street sellers kind of remind me of Sicily (I spent a week there last summer and absolutely loved it). The Amalfi Coast is definitely on my bucket list, I’ve heard so many great things about this area and seen so many gorgeous photos, I really need to go!

  3. Gorgeous photos of the Amalfi Coast! It’s somewhere I’d love to visit, particularly to see Positano. I hear nearby Ischia is also amazing. Pinned for future reference. #FlyAwayFriday

  5. The Amalfi coast appears spectacular and comes alive in the pictures. On both our trips to Italy, we have missed out the Amalfi coast. Hope to travel here and experience the lovely landscapes next time around.
