English poet, Lord Byron, described Croatia as the pearl of the Adriatic. And boy, was he right. This tiny country is made up of more than a thousand islands, 11 nature parks, 8 national parks and a long coastline on the Adriatic Sea. All of this contributes to making Croatia one of the most stunning countries I’ve ever seen.

But it’s not just the nature that makes this country beautiful and unique. It’s major coastal city, Dubrovnik, has massive 16th-century walls encircling an gorgeous Old Town. You have probably caught a glimpse of it while watching Game of Thrones. Zadar is home to the world’s first pipe organ that is played by the sea’s waves. And, there is a Sphinx in Split that was brought over from Egypt for Diocletian and is over 4,000 years old. I have to admit, I didn’t know too much about Croatia before visiting, but was blown away but the history, the architecture, the people and the natural beauty. These are just a part of what made me fall head over heels in love with this amazing country! I hope you will too.

  3. You Got It Girl!!!!….. One would not think but Croatia is very beautiful and I must add they have the BEST drinking water I have ever tasted (water snob here lol). Since I live here in Le Marche and going there is just a Ferry ride from Ancona Italy… I have a few friends that go to the dentist there, 1 because they are better, 2 because they are cheaper. My husband sometimes has has work there (Italian carpenter) because many people from my area have their summer homes there so I am lucky enough to visit. We also met up with old friends of mine (not seen in 15 yrs)on the Isle of Kirk at a “Natural Camp Site” personally I thought Natural meant vegan loving of nature. But reluctantly had to, bite the bullet and go nude. First time for everything. LOL…
    Your photos are incredible, the blue waters of Split, look like butter.

  13. I was there last year, but up in the northern parts, the Istria Peninsula. Next visit, I’ll head south to the parts you showed, and you should head north to Istria. Great wine and food, and lots of small hill towns.

  17. Yes, I definitely agree with you Croatia is very beautiful country I have visited the old town in Dubrovnik and I have spent a great time there. I would love soon to visit more places in Croatia!

  22. I didn’t fall in love with Croatia in these 17 photos – i ADORE them! I only been to Pula in the north and so want to get back out there. I had a great time in Croatia and the people are fantastic…but the scenery…woooooza!

  23. Oh I love these pics. They really take me back. We loved Croatia but unfortunately went it high summer when it was way too busy. Look forward to exploring more in a lower season. Great shots.

  26. What a great post! Your pictures are beautiful and are so enticing. I visited Croatia during last summer and your photos have just backed up my conception that the country is so so photogenic. I love the old rustic feel that a lot of the country possesses. I never managed to visit Plitvice but I did go to Krka National Park and gosh was I blown away, wonderful place!

  29. I just came back from Croatia (Split and Hvar) and I love that you gave a shout-out to the 4,000 year old sphinx! Hvar and the Pakleni Islands were also a dream come true, I have never seen such blue water.

  30. I’m from Australia and have now been a number of times as I fell in love with it after my first visit. One of my favorite countries in the world I have visited and I have seen most of Europe and Asia extensively. It has so much diversity mountains, 1200 islands, rolling hills with wineries and hilltop towns in North, the bluest water and some of the nicest small beaches and bays you will ever see. My hidden treasures I’d like you to all to google are the town of Betina on the island of Murter and the surrounding Kornati archipelago, The gorgeous town of Sibenik with two UNESCO sites and on the doorstep of the Krka falls. Motovun, Rovinj and the island of Losinj. Primosten, Vodice, Rogoznica and a the gorgeous town of Pucisca on the island of Brac. Oh and check out Rastoke the small town built over waterfalls. Thank me later 😉
